Advanced flexible bituminous Astromic waterproofing
This waterproofing system reflects the latest advances in coating technology. It is a high-performance waterproofing product that does not need any of the traditional protective layers.
It is designed to resolve the recurring problems of conventional waterproofing, where the membrane has to be protected by an additional layer.
Most waterproofing types used on the market are damaged by the sun’s ultraviolet rays and cannot be left exposed, because they are not manufactured to serve as a final layer. They are vulnerable to surface irregularity, uneven slopes, foot traffic and UV exposure.
Final cladding and screed layers add further problems. As the finished layer, they are exposed to weathering and ultraviolet light, which leads to cracking and visible erosion that requires periodic maintenance. When a leak appears the situation gets worse: it can usually only be treated by re-waterproofing the entire surface, because the damaged membrane underneath the screed is difficult to reach.
A durable, strong layer with excellent adhesion and uniformity on any surface. It is not affected by chemicals or by the ingredients found in sand or cement, because it is a non-chemical product that is very safe for people and the environment.
Chemical waterproofing layers on roofs are a particular concern for hospitals and children’s schools.
Non-toxic and water-based, with no volatile organic compounds
Resistant to cracking, splitting and disintegration
Strong adhesion to all surfaces
Excellent breathability
Very low maintenance and repair costs
Non-combustible, Class A fire retardant
Odorless
Easy to clean
The chemicals used when preparing and installing waterproofing can harm people and the environment. Some people overlook these effects because they are not felt immediately, yet exposure can build up in the body over time.
Risks can arise during storage, transport, installation or throughout the period of use, and may cause permanent or temporary harm such as injuries, blisters, poisoning, respiratory inflammation, or skin and eye allergies.
It is therefore important to know the chemical composition of any waterproofing material, along with its other physical characteristics such as combustibility and toxicity.
Built for exposed surfaces that must withstand harsh conditions, the coating combines microscopic hollow ceramic particles (Astromic) in an emulsion with a high-quality, non-toxic, flexible acrylic resin that is environmentally friendly. It is designed to last as an effective waterproofing layer and can be applied to all surfaces, especially metal, where it acts as a rust inhibitor by converting iron oxide into iron phosphate.
A water-impermeable layer that resists mold and mildew
When applied to steel, the coating acts as a rust inhibitor and stops corrosion by converting iron oxide into iron phosphate. The product is water-borne and free of toxic or hazardous substances in both its liquid and cured forms.
A flexible coating with superior resistance to mold and fungal growth, and with anti-bacterial properties.
It is not affected by chemicals or by the components found in sand or cement. It is a non-chemical product that is very safe for people and the environment, is not affected by heat, offers high resistance to combustion, and is non-toxic.
Seals and waterproofs
Eliminates blistering, peeling and cracking
Stops and prevents further corrosion
Non-toxic and environmentally friendly
Easy to apply
Very low maintenance and repair cost
Excellent adhesion to most substrates
Resistant to mold and bacteria
The main benefits are its flexibility, excellent adhesion, crack bridging, versatility, and ease of use on wet concrete.
